VAG DSG Transverse
The DSG dual-clutch gearbox
The DSG dual-clutch gearbox, available in 6-speed and 7-speed versions, is unlike a conventional automatic transmission. Two independent gearboxes are connected under load to the engine in turn, depending on the current gear, via two drive shafts. An output shaft assigned to each gearbox applies the torque to the driven wheels via the differential gear. Clutches and gearboxes are operated hydraulically by the gearbox mechatronics (a combination of mechanics and electronics). The electronic transmission control unit, sensors and hydraulic control unit form one compact unit. The control unit uses information such as engine speed, road speed, accelerator position and driving mode to select the optimum gear and to determine the ideal shift point. The control unit then implements the shift commands in a sequence of precisely co-ordinated actions. Each change takes less than four-hundredths of a second. DSG can be used manually, via the Tiptronic gearlever or the optional paddle shifts.
Modifying & improving Valve body performance
Sonnax Zip Kits address the root cause of transmission failure by sealing critical pressure losses in the valve body.
These kits utilise uniquely designed parts to restore hydraulic pressure often lost due to worn components.
At Signature, 80% of rebuilds include Zip Kits or oversized valves to combat the abrasive wear caused by debris particles.
Technicians use specialised air decay testers and vacuum testing to verify bore tolerances and solenoid seat conditions.
These diagnostic methods provide precise data to ensure every valve body is restored to peak performance.
Vehcile code reading Equipment Autologic
This tool has the same capability of the dealerships coding equipment. It is mainly used for pairing, re-programming & re-flashing ECU’s/TCM control units to vehicles.
We can calibrate and set up clutch volume/clearance on the DSG 0AM (dry clutch) as well as setting driver values on road adaptions.
We also use other pass through tools that allows use to software code on numerous amounts of different Makes & Models of vehicles.
Our aim is to be completely independent from dealerships, this saves time and money for our customers.

WE CARRY OUT REFLASHES ON ECU’S SOFEWARE UPDATES AND ROAD ADAPTION ON EVERY REBUILD. Signature Transmissions Are LUK certified repairers, without the correct training you can not purchase the correct tools or clutches to carry out repairs.
DSG repairs are not always straight forward and do not always results in full rebuilds to get the vehicle in a full functional working order. There are many different types of problems which occur on these vehicles.
Bearing problems
Electrical wiring issues
Mechatronic issues
Clutch noises and failed material
Signature can offer the correct repair after assessing the problem, this involves a full gearbox health check which will be undertaken when the vehicle is onsite. (Diagnosis test) £95 + VAT
